BODY CONVERSATIONS

A BIBLICAL FOUNDATION FOR ONENESS AND DIVERSITY

PURSUING OUR ONENESS SERIES 2: Pursuing our Oneness in the Body of Christ

LET US REASON TOGETHER!

LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION HOW OUR HEAVENLY FATHER DESIRES TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH US TO ACHIEVE ONENESS WITH US IN HIS WILL AND HOW WE CAN BE INSPIRED TO DO LIKEWISE WITH ONE ANOTHER!

Summary:  18 “Come now, and let us reason together, “Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)  Wow!  If God is willing to enter a conversation to reason with us…His creation and/or His children, it seems that we should be able to come together to “Reason Together” to address issues that may divide us.

Today’s Context:  In our daily conversations with one another, what are we trying to achieve?  Are we seeking to be Right or are seeking to be One?  Are seeking to get our point across or are we seeking to hear the other person’s point of view?  With all the chatter that is out there in social media and other communication outlets, we truly need to recapture the desire and skill to listen to one another!

JESUS THE INFANT/CHILD: THE MODEL FOR BIBLICAL ONENESS

LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION TO EXPLORE KEY BIBLICAL MOMENTS DURING JESUS’ FIRST 12 YEARS WHERE HE BEGAN TO MODEL FOR US BIBLICAL ONENESS.

Summary:  Many times, we traditionally state that Jesus started His public ministry at the approximate age of 30.  According to the scriptures, there are essential examples of Jesus modeling for us the pathway of Biblical Oneness when he was a child.

Today’s Context:  There are key biblical lessons to learn from our children and youth!  We need to take more time to listen and to learn from our young people.

PURSUING OUR ONENESS!  I AM…BECAUSE WE ARE!

LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION ON JESUS’ HEART FOR HIS CHILDREN TO PURSUE BIBLICAL ONENESS AND THE FACTORS THAT HAVE KEPT US FROM ACHIEVING, AND THE STEPS WE CAN PURSUE TO ACHIEVE IT.

Summary:  In the pursuit of Oneness, we must first affirm and own the fact that we, as His Church. are not manifesting Jesus’ dream of Oneness as He prayed in John 17.  Our pursuit of Oneness must be intentional.  We must take the challenging and rewarding steps to address key matters of division and other issues that have kept us, as the Body of Christ, from fulfilling Jesus’ Vision of Oneness. If we were to grade our Oneness in our churches, ministries, and communities, what would that grade be from A-F and why?

Today’s Context:  We tend to want to be right…instead of pursuing oneness in our relationships.  Pride can kick in and then we find ourselves, even with our brothers and sisters in Christ, in a “Win-Lose” situation.  We must give up our rights to achieve true Oneness.  I surrender all!  Pride is our problem, and humility is our solution!

REMEMBERING JESUS:  THE POWER OF COMMUNION TO BREAK DOWN WALLS THAT DIVIDE US!

LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION AND PRACTICE TAKING COMMUNION AS GOD’S PATHWAY TO BREAK DOWN WALLS THAT DIVIDE US TO HELP US REMEMBER THAT WE ARE ONE BLOOD…ONE BODY…ONE RACE…ONE BAPTISM…AND ONE LORD!

Summary: “As often as we do this…we do this is in remembrance of Him! (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)” Communion is the one thing that Jesus ask us to do to remember Him.  Jesus desires for us take together the bread and the cup (often) to remember that we should have the same love for one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34-35).

Today’s Context:  May we be very careful not to simply treat our occasional communion services as a formality, but truly as a pathway for our diverse brothers and sisters to experience our Oneness in Christ!

THE BODY OF CHRIST: OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS…LOCALLY, REGIONALLY, NATIONALLY, AND GLOBALLY!

LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION ON GOD’S HEART FOR US TO LOVE AND SERVE ALL HIS CHILDREN ACROSS THE WORLD…AS OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

Summary:  Christians should share in the fellowship, love, suffering, support of God’s children locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.  We must be intentional to increase our awareness, biblical knowledge, and commitment to pray for, love, serve, and support our brothers and sisters in Christ that our outside one’s current church family.

Today’s Context: We, as the One Body of Christ, at times fail to look beyond our own church and culture to share in the joys and sufferings of HIS Body…His Children…our Brothers and Sisters locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

THE ORDER OF ONENESS:  FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT

LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION ON DEFINING BIBLICAL ONENESS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ORDER OF ONENESS BETWEEN THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT.

Summary:  The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are One, but their Oneness is based on their Order.  As we study Jesus’ prayer on John 17, and He prays that we would be one as He and the Father are one.  We must also affirm the Oneness and Order between the Father and Son.  Did not the Son say that He only speaks and does what the Father says and does?  (John 5:19).

Today’s Context:  Secular Order practiced by humanity is many times oppressive, but Biblical Order leads to Oneness and Freedom!
